The guy in the video shouting and hollering at the other guy is the real jackhole there.

Well said LTC (Join to see). While I don't agree with what the panhandler is doing (and we have them in Newport) I am not about to go and harass someone as he did. While i think most of the veteran panhandlers are phonies, I did pull up this past winter to a left turn arrow in my city and was watching a guy on the corner panhandling. By the time I had gotten to the light to turn, he walked across the street and got into a mini van with Marine Corps veteran plates on it. The van looked like it wa sin pretty good shape. What this guys status in life is, I don't know. I suspect he was just out to make a few extra bucks. I never did see hime again. He had on a Marine leather jacketI'll have to look up Guardians of Valor but I suspect some of them are just full of themselves.

When I was stationed in New Orleans, a local tv station did an expose on panhandlers focusing on some of the lucrative and fought over corners in Metairie. One caught a typically dressed bum at the end of their 'shift' walk a few blocks off the main drag and then get into their bright, shiny high priced car and drive away.

I agree Colonel. Chasing a guy across the street and yelling makes us all look bad. I never had a veteran's ID until I started going to the VA for hearing problems last year. Are you going to tell me I am not a Vet because I don't have an ID? And confront me? I didn't carry my DD214 around with me. Call the authorities if you believe he is doing something illegal. These confrontations are getting out of hand and someone may get hurt. I remember the man that was wearing a Marine uniform in a parade and a policeman vet confronted him and embarrassed him in front of everyone at the parade. He said the couldn't be a Marine because of his belt. What the policeman didn't know is that the uniform was from the early sixties and had been through changes since. The man had to go to the press with his DD214. His reputation was already tarnished in front of the whole town.

The @$$ Clown in the blue shirt is a disgrace. The panhandler never claimed to be a veteran. Hell, I see people in bdu's all the time that aren't soldiers. Just hunters. I wear woodland marpats and multicams myself hunting. I even wear my dcu's (chocolate chips and coffee stains) once in awhile (goose and duck) hunting. All I have on them is my last name both english and arabic. I just think the asshat in blue over reacted and was itching to fight someone.
