False information is everywhere. 'Pre-bunking' tries to head it off early

Officials in Ann Arbor, Mich., Union County, N.C., and Contra Costa County, Calif., are posting infographics on social media urging people to "think critically" about what they see and share about voting and to seek out reliable election information.
Earlier this month, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency put out a public service announcement saying cyberattacks are not likely to disrupt voting.

That first paragraph sums it up perfectly - "think critically".
If more people did that rather than just parroting the partisan comments from their favorite talking head, this country would be in a MUCH better spot.
Here's a tip to everyone (Republican/Democrat/Liberal/Conservative/etc):
- If your information is from a partisan site, you should 'think critically' about it.
- If your information comes from your friend on Twitter, Facebook, or other social media, you should 'think critically' about it.
- If your information comes from a political party/figure/ad, you should 'think critically' about it.
"Think critically" means to question what you've heard and do some research yourself. 9 out of 10 times you'll quickly discover the additional context that is missing from the information you just were sent or saw; may possibly discover that the information is a blatant twisting of facts; or the information only has a passing familiarity with the truth.
If the United States and Russian Olympic athletes were in a head-to-head competition, and the US athlete won, the following is a 'true' statement, but is missing a lot of context - The United States came in second to last, but the Russian athlete came in second place.
We used to call stuff like that propaganda, but now we just call them political ads...
