The encouraging thing about this article is the use of the words "kidnappers", "murder", "extortion" and the like rather than "Islamic Terrorists" and the like.
When a group captures a person and is only willing to release them if a ransom is paid, they are KIDNAPPERS and NOT "idealists".
When a group that has no legal standing whatsoever kills someone, they MURDER them - the do not "execute" them.
You can bet one hell of a lot more of any diverse community to back a campaign against "Murderous Thugs" than you can to back a campaign against any group that a portion of that community has some (no matter how tenuous) connection with.

Almost a Tradition in that part of the world, Kidnapping for Profit. Notably from the Islands to the south Nabbing someone from Cebu. Good that they are calling them what they are.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - PO; I could be a bit off base here, but (as I understand it) the Canadian government doesn't even consider the kidnappers to really be "legitimate" terrorists.
