Is it possible that not having a home is not the root cause of homelessness? No, I'm not being factitious. We have given billions to the poor and they're still poor. We have provided housing for the homeless and there is still homelessness. We have provided medicine and treatment to the ill and there is still illness. Maybe there's another answer and simply throwing money at problems may not be it.

We open shelters for the homeless on a regular basis in my area, and are refused. Some for whatever reason, prefer to live outside, even in inclement weather. The problem is time should be taken to either determine why some don't want to stay in shelters, and if valid reasons, drop them off the rolls. Then those that want help will be in a better position to get it. Totally agree with your last sentence.

But, CPT Jack, isn't that way our government does things? Instead of researching the problem and find a better way, it's easier for the government to just hand over an amount of money to fix things, than it is to think about the root cause, and fix that. Also, the government needs to keep track of where the money actually went.

Why not? There are plenty of closed military bases with housing/barracks space just ACHING to be utilized instead of falling into wrack & ruin. Open some of those facilities back up. Even if it's only temporary.

I couldn't agree more, unless the Syrian refugees are put in them. That would be a huge slap in the face to our homeless veterans and homeless civilians. From what I understand, they will have to pay monthly rent. But if there are a lot of bases with empty houses, fill them up with veterans before private citizens.

Because they are Too "Darn " Busy setting up Illegal Immigrants and "Syrian Refugees" with the Resources needed to House and feed the Veterans ... the Bastards in DC are Pandering for Votes from The Liberal Sympathizers who still harbor a hatred for the Military and its veterans...…
Charity Starts at Home !!! ...
Start First the Vets and then the rest of unfortunate American Citizens... When they are all Fed and Properly Housed then Look at the Legal Immigrants...
Screw the Illegals and Refugees... if their own Kind will not take them we have no business taking them....
