I say politics is such a dirty business that attacking anyone running for office seems to be the norm. Small wonder many people wouldn't want to get into politics and have to endure the insults, attacks on their character even when not even justified. The mud slinging seems to have got out of control. Its also easy for people as in the case of female veterans running for office to have their records attacked by people that never served in the first place and don't have a clue. Never mind the issues as to why they seek office, throw enough mud justified or not to instead of focus on what the candidate hopes to accomplish in congress. To Me their veteran status is a plus as long as their platform for the campaign seeks to accomplish the things I feel are important. Let Me concentrate on the message they have and not someone elses attacks on them.

I live in Kentucky on the Ohio River across from Indiana, if you try to watch the local channels every commercial break has 3 or 4 political adds that are nothing but mudslinging and misinformation by the two candidates running for the Senate in Indiana I hate trying to watch the local channels right now.

SSG (Join to see) - I know what You mean, I see the same thing here in Massachusetts with the political ads. Some of those ads though convince Me there is no way I'd vote for them under any circumstances !

SSG (Join to see) - Not much escaping in and the ads alone are a good reason I want to see elections come to a conclusion. I hear even RI and NH ads plus ones in other areas of MA that I can't vote on put even the MA statewide ads get old fast.

I find nearly every politician exaggerates their war record, and I'm ashamed for most of them.

To succeed in politics it seems You have to master the art of deceit and underhanded tactics, a lot of them get pretty good at it. Seems many have a lot of practice.

Precisely my thoughts, sir. Everyone running for office should expect an unfair level of scrutiny on their background, without regard to their political party, military service, or gender. A man in the exact same position as Maura Sullivan would have to endure a challenge as to whether his service rose to the level of "combat proven."

LTC (Join to see) - Exactly. We are given the definition of "Combat Zone" when the SECDEF assigns it as such. We don't pick it, we just go when and where we're told. This Morrison bullshit of "The 'combat proven' thing seemed to me to be close to stolen valor," needs to stop. Everyone in a combat zone is at an increased level of risk over the 99% who never signed up and swore the oath. She was in a combat zone when she treated the broken bodies of front-line fighters, which she never claimed to be. She is combat proven.

LTC (Join to see) - I'm sure they do expect attacks as that seems to have become the norm and it appears also tend to have no limits. I would agree, male or female makes no difference as the attackers have no acceptable standard of conduct anyway. Asa Vietnam Veteran Myself I can tell You that just being there You are not out of danger, an attack by troops, rockets mortars You will still be killed front line or not. In a combat zone everyone is at risk I've seen the results with injury or death first hand from these attacks and someone that wasn't even in the combat zone has no idea what anyone that was went through. I don't feel I could handle what these Military Doctors, Nurses, Medics and Corpsmen do I could walk away from the injured or pass it on to them, they couldn't escape it. I find it very offensive the sleazy Politicians can attack My brothers and sister Who did serve while they performed as parasites and didn't even remember who they were working for, the American People. What Colonel Lenertz said here is also right on the mark and I agree 100% with what He had to say on this same subject on His post here.
