I take my seat belt off in an aircraft when headed to the restroom and deplaning. I’ve been on too many flights where air pockets have had effects on planes, etc.

I'm quite please that my (now) home city is back in the news. Even here, the news is a bit sparce, but the general impression is that it was unexpected turbulence.
