Tha nks for sharing, as it shows how we worked in collaboration with allied forces. Our relationships have forged mighty force in overcoming numerous threats since the Great War starting with WWII and continuing to present day!

A friend's grandfather went over to the UK to fly with the Brits and then transferred back to the American services.

A not uncommon practice. In WWI, Americans who joined the French Lafayette Escadrille were welcomed into the U.S. Air Service. In WWII, all three RAF Eagle Squadrons were redesignated and became the three squadrons of the 4th Ftr. Grp. In China, members of the American Volunteer Group who came from the navy and Marines were welcomed back into their former branches, while soldiers became pilots in the 23d Ftr. Grp.
