The Sino-Soviet border conflict was a seven-month undeclared military conflict between the Soviet Union and China at the height of the Sino-Soviet split in 1969. Although military clashes ceased that year, the underlying issues were not resolved until the 1991 Sino-Soviet Border Agreement.

There seems to be a long standing practice of China getting involved in disputes with other Asian nations. Even before the Flash war mentioned here and disputes with Vietnam don't forget their involvement in Korea in the early 1950s. The Communist put off their dispute with the Chinese Nationalist to seize control of mainland China only due to the WWII battle vs Japan. It seems the Chinese Communist have along History about not getting along with their Asian neighbors.
