Florida sheriff delivers strong message to county: 'If you're not afraid of a gun, get one'

Love our Florida sheriffs. I ended up spending the past year in Polk County (about 20 min from Disney) and he is popular and no nonsense. I think he'll be in the job for a long time.

I live in a rural county. Unless the stars align perfectly, police response to something like a home invasion is 15-25 minutes out. If there is two major incidents going on, make that an hour plus. When my county Sheriff tells me to be prepared to defend myself for an hour or more at night, I listen.
