He traveled to Russia on his own not via Company Business and probably not via Company knowledge. The Company has no obligation to extend employment indefinitely for what amounts to a new employee that just hired on with them in 2017 that gets in trouble overseas (weather the trouble is real or made up). I can totally see the Company's point here. Not a Company issue, totally a State Department and Individual issue. Also, the company could hire him back in a new position after release. I can understand why they do not want to carry him on the books.
