Between July 2017 and June 2018, seven veterans at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center died from severe hypoglycemia or extremely low blood sugar. It wasn’t until June 2018 that a medical doctor reported concerns, noting that several of the patients who had died were not diabetic.
A nursing assistant, Reta Mays, was removed from the facility’s Ward 3A after the concerns were raised. On Tuesday, Mays pleaded guilty to eight felonies in federal court, including seven counts of second-degree murder and “one count of assault with intent to commit murder.”

COL Mikel J. Burroughs - I truly agree with you on that, but just like anywhere, we are dealing with the human race. The human race is surrounded by evil and some give into it. It would be nice to have a scan that could screen everyone, to determine who would do such deeds. It is unfortunate we have to learn who it is, after they commit some horrendous crime. Be blessed, my friend and brother.
