A soldier collapsed and died Monday morning after completing a run as part of physical fitness training at Fort Carson, Colorado, installation officials said.
The individual, whose name is being withheld until family members are identified, collapsed at the end of the run around 7:30 a.m., according to a Fort Carson news release.
After receiving care from combat medics on the scene, the soldier was transported to Memorial Hospital in nearby Colorado Springs, where doctors pronounced the soldier dead about an hour later.
The cause of death is unknown, per the release, and an investigation is ongoing.
