"The gun was in his waistband not holstered and loaded," Turnbull explained to local news station WSB-TV. "The gun slipped down his leg, he attempted to grab it, and was somehow manipulating the weapon and discharged the firearm."

#5 & #6 of the "Four" rules of safe gun handling:
5. Never carry a loaded gun without a properly fitted holster that covers the trigger and trigger guard.
6. NEVER try to catch a falling gun.
On a lighter note, obviously no one was "social distancing" at that Walmart.
I do wonder if some (most!) of the people "shot" were actually hit by fragments or debris after the bullet hit the floor.

I know Lovejoy well so I am not surprised by this story. If you are going to carry a firearm you need a holster that covers the trigger and is of good quality and retention. Carrying without a holster in ones waistband is stupid and dangerous, glad they arrested him.
