Later, the cook being decapitated by Marlon Brando and the sixteen-year-old Laurence Fishburne being killed while listening to a tape from his mom from home demonstrates the insanity of War. Then Marlon Brando talking about the horror and asking that Captain Willard kill him and destroy his army with an air strike buy a B-52 also known as ArcLight.

LtCol Robert Quinter I first saw this movie as a teenager in Honduras. My family was in San Pedro Sula. Funny to see Apocalypse Now and my laughs a second or two before the others did because of understanding English instead of the subtitles. I recall at the ending of Apocalypse Now had a difference explosion scene with the Buddhist temple being bombed by the B-52's and the cameras were inside the temple area. Even though I have seen Apocalypse Now Redux, the ending was different for this export version with subtitles. Could you elaborate on the extreme?

LTC (Join to see) - By its nature, war requires a soldier to put aside what he has been taught his entire life and start living by standards necessary to survive and perform his duty. Dependent upon the circumstances, those new standards become so overwhelming and demanding that, were the individual back in the peace environment, he would probably walk out of a psychiatrist office with multiple diagnosys. What people do in war borders on the insane with a very thin margin between sane accomplishment of one's duty and an insane compulsion. Please excuse if this doesn't make sense to a trained specialist, I'm just an old stick and throttle guy.

Yes, Roger, good copy. Audie Murphy, SGT. York and hundreds of thousands of veterans are changed. These 5 directors were changed by War.

I first saw this film when I was 11 - and while I did not understand most of it at the time I was mesmerized by the story - hunt down and kill a rouge Army officer. Regardless of Coppola's approach it is one of the greats in terms of iconic movies.
