As crude supply dwindles, price increases are almost inevitable. It will depend on how energy-independent the major consumers become. I saw an article yesterday outlining how China has the World's largest floating solar panel farm. We should get more independent than we are now, unless other alternative sources are uncovered. There is limited research on converting algae to a fuel.

I completely agree. The United States is now falling behind because we have politicians in the pockets of oil and coal companies. When they finally come around it will be too late and the entire country will suffer. If we don't start putting more effort into research and development on renewable energy sources, our country is going to be left wanting when our main sources for energy dwindle to nothing.
