Faking mental disorders is a common approach for those that game disability benefits programs. Certain states are easier to gain benefits in as well, so some relocate. I read a story about someone that got Social Security disability for mental impairment. He had worked as a small delivery truck driver, delivering medical nuclear materials for testing and treatment. He was able to game the tests and convince the adjudicators that he could no longer count or do basic math operations, and claimed it was due to exposure. It caused me to read more about the methods and it seems to be fairly common. Unlike injury or disease there are fewer methods to diagnose, and it is easier to fraud the system. Many are young people in their 20's. This all contributes to a major portion of our budget, and I expect the current administration will be looking at it for fraud and wasteful spending. The saddest part is that many Veterans are unable to get help with legitimate PTSD and TBI, while these other people that never served are covered for life. Gaining benefits because you play too many games is pretty crazy at a basic level.

It could be said, jokingly of course, that a number of us are addicted to RP..

Can't think of a better item to be addicted to. At least it's not drugs.

If it's with a combination of drugs and pot then they're just trying to get welfare money so they can stay home feel sorry for themselves do more drugs and play some more video games instead of actually looking for work or even finishing school.

Sir, I will admit that I do play video games, but I still go to work. And I sure as hell don’t qualify for welfare and I’m in the military so obviously I don’t do drugs.

I play video games as well in fact I'm playing a game on my smartphone called tail end Charlie. I thought maybe the premise of your story was for people to to claim a disability so they get free money from the government. I have two step daughters that are dropouts from school that do drugs and who are both on welfare. That is from the perspective that I came from. I just think it's baloney and I was being sarcastic thinking that social justice Warriors will try to push that people addicted to videogames should be entitled to welfare funds.

My sarcastic remark was a no reference to you or most gamers. I went to an anime convention with my ten-year-old daughter and we went into a room where the whole room was discussing a certain anime game with two of the game developers. They're even going through a split screen showing some combat scenes with sword fighting. There's nothing wrong with that. I just thought that they were going to try to make it disability for those who are irresponsible. My sarcasm was not meant for the rank-and-file gamer who is successful and who is goal-oriented in life.
