As a VA employee I have to say thank God union membership for federal employees is optional. And you can definitely tell the difference between the union and non-union employees. For example, every time anyone tries to make a change in our office the non-union employees try to find ways to use this change to better help veterans. All the die hard union members will just bitch and whine about how the change will negatively affect them. And as someone who regularly gets assigned to fix screwed up claims, I can also say that almost all of the really bad mistakes I encounter are caused by just a handful of these die hard union idiots that half ass everything they do just to try and make their productivity look good.

I can remember a time when Americans could be Republicans, Democrats, some third party, or simply unaffiliated, and still respect one another. That was then, this is now. The level of animosity has grown precipitously. What the hell happened? That's the discussion we should be having or some day soon we may be hearing about incidents of tarring and feathering or lynching. Hyperbole? I suppose so, but it has happened before.

I think we are about to see much worse if things do not change quickly.

CPT Jack Durish - Captain; I think that your identification of "polarization" as the problem is right on target. Unfortunately I can't see the problem getting any less severe while either of the (existing) Democrat or Republican party structures continue to exist.

It isn't so much that America "needs a third party" as it needs people to say "I'm being paid to fix problems NOT create or ignore them because someone from a different party might get the credit for fixing them.".

COL Ted Mc - I think that it's pretty clear that the GOP is in self-destruct mode ever since the party establishment declared open war on its conservative base. The Democrats may not be far behind. The Rainbow Coalition is bound to wake up some day and see that it has been cobbled together from several parties that have inimical ideologies

CPT Jack Durish - Captain; When that happens it is going to find out that it is NOT a "political party" but merely an arrangement of convenience and the amount of babies being tossed out with the bathwater simply to keep the arrangement together will be astonishing.

My first question would be why the hell do we have someone looking out for vets that is not a vet? I personally don't care about your religion, political beliefs, or sexual orientation. I will stand up for my brothers and sister that served. That is the kind of person that should be in charge.

SGT William Howell, I don't know why there was a civilian in charge, but she ain't in charge no more, and that CS Duckworth isn't worth the paper her name is on. Uggg! Why are vetetans treated so F'n bad? Too bad she was WIA, but evidently it didn't make her sympathetic to other vets. Does she ever do anything good, or anything at all?
