Thanks for the tour! Obviously, it looks like the station is now closed. Back in late 1985 when I was in the Army and stationed at Ft. Meade (the puzzle palace), I was pursuing an early out to go back to school. I had received orders to go back to my former station, Field Station Berlin, which I turned down (I only had about 8 months left on my 2nd enlistment). Interestingly, I was told I would be coded for refusal to accept the orders, whatever that meant. Two months later, I received orders for Bad Aibling Station. That gave me pause. That sounded like the Army was dangling a carrot in front of me. I came very close to re-enlisting for that tour, with a $15k bonus, given that Bad Aibling had a great reputation. Nevertheless, I stayed the course, got out 15 January, 1986, enlisted in the Air National Guard the next day and now I’m MSgt, USAF, retired. Sometimes I wonder where I’d be if I had taken that fork in the road. Again, thanks for showing everyone around, along with some great radio listening (where did you get those recordings!?).

Wow, I would love to visit there some day in the future. I met my wife there back in 2003. I wasn't assigned there for long, but had a lot of good times. It will always be a great place in my memories.
