RAW: Iraqi M1 Abrams tank hit by ISIS Kornet guided missile near Mosul
A Russian-made 9M133 Kornet ATGM (anti-tank guided missile) reportedly obliterates a US-made Abrams tank involved in the offensive on the terrorist-held city...
The article doesn't report on any vulnerabilities that any other tank wouldn't have. Modern anti tank weapons must be countered with reactive armor. I bet the Turks invest in some after this experience. Also are the Turks employing their tanks effectively? I bet not. Look on Youtube, and see the M1s our middle eastern allies are using getting blown up. The things are tanks, not pill boxes.

This tank is generally better than the m1a2sep but I see the Turks have the equivalent of the M1A1 Abrams.

I wonder how the newer Leopards would fair. Tanks do no not seem to be a good weapon for urban combat for obvious reasons.

SGT Gregory Lawritson - I agree. Tanks should be used in the field. Moving and firing in close quarters will always be limited.
