Why would the POTUS care anything about speaking to a commissioner of a sports league?

Because the President is obsessing about that league.

Capt Dwayne Conyers Nor should they. The NFL is not a government entity. It is really up to the fans to determine whether or not what the NFL players are doing is socially acceptable. The bottom line is do you as an NFL fan accept that a player making millions of dollars for playing a game is kneeling down during the Star Spangled Banner is a statement against injustice, or do you believe that it is a publicity stunt? I personally believe it is a nothing more than a publicity stunt. Much as I hate to admit it, at least when Kaepernick started this, he made a statement about why, and stayed on that message. Now it is just a big FU to Donald Trump, and nothing more. It is not about free speech, social inequity, injustice, it is just about one group of whiny millionaires thumbing their noses at a whiny billionaire. I have not watched an entire game all season. I have watched parts of a couple Vikings games, despite Direct TV including Sunday Ticket in our switch to their service. I hate that they are being whiny bitches, and will not go out of my way to be a consumer of their product. That is where statements should be made as to the behavior. To the NFL fans who say it is wrong, stop going. Don't buy tickets. Don't buy merchandise. Don't give the pricks the satisfaction. I mean it is hard to say that fans are upset when a game featuring the mediocre Chicago Bears, and the banged up Minnesota Vikings SELLS OUT THE STADIUM. That is not we are pissed and won't support you. That is we will whine about your behavior, and still shell out a couple hundred bucks a week to watch you dance.
