Like medical triage the reality of this world wide event is some will die so others may live

Had we only done what a few experts have been saying from the very beginning shelter the very small demographic that is most likely to have a severe outcome to the virus the other 96% of the world continues their lives will we miss a few that didn’t know they were immunocompromised they didn’t know they had a lung condition that made them susceptible to the coronavirus of course we will is that sad yes is destroying the economy making a whole new class of homeless or financially destitute citizens.
Like in a ER nurse or doctor will tell you sometimes somebody has to die so the many others can live

Ask any combat medic or PA that’s worth a mass casualty event in combat sometimes they have to decide who gets the last IV so that somebody else will live that has a chance

Is that harsh well yes it is why do we not simply protect those in the very small demographic that is most likely to have a severe outcome and the rest of us get back to work

It is foolish to believe that we are in a binary choice between economic self-immolation and "we're all gonna die".
No, we aren't.
The logical solution would be to utilize this time to effectively stockpile necessary equipment and prepare for the worst. Then tell folks that are immunocompromised or otherwise vulnerable to stay isolated while the rest of the country goes to work and builds herd immunity.
I don't think it is that hard to figure out, but our leaders seem to be terrified of being the first to lift restrictions for fear of being blamed for any consequences.

The GOP is just as bad at finding some folks with no soul.
