Gophers players boycott football; bowl game participation in jeopardy

Did you read the article? They were innocent and still got took off the team. The school need to follow the rules.

"According to the players’ attorney, the EOAA recommended expulsion for Ray Buford, Carlton Djam, KiAnte Hardin, Dior Johnson and Tamarion Johnson. The attorney said the EOAA recommended one-year suspensions from the university for Seth Green, Kobe McCrary, Mark Williams and Antoine Winfield Jr., and probation for Antonio Shenault.

Some of the players were directly accused by a female student in an alleged sexual assault in the early morning hours after the Gophers’ Sept. 2 season opener; the involvement of others is unclear. The school discipline comes weeks after a criminal investigation resulted in no arrests or charges. The woman’s allegations were documented through police reports and court testimony, and ultimately led to the EOAA investigation."

The EOAA made the determination- it might not have been strong enough in court, but civil court or this body it seems to have bearing. Not saying I believe the charges or that is fair but there are 100+ other players that it affects.

LTC Stephen C. I agree with your comment though there is something to be said for team solidarity and standing up for each other. Though as you said this would be a great chance for them to gain a decent pay check and promote themselves on the field.

SPC(P) (Join to see), to me, the key word is "team". The coaching staff and the university suspended the players for the good of the "team" (and the university). Ten players are not the "team". Boycotting is not for the good of the "team", however justified the players think they are now or how it may prove to be in the future.
I think it's a well intended but short sighted move.
