. . . and make sure you join every vets service organization for which you're eligible. When I was taking my P&C physical in San Francisco back in late '91, I started leafing through the different vets magazines lying around and it dawned on me that the only thing Congress responds to is pressure from voters. Over the next two years I became a life member of MOPH, DAV, MOAA, VFW, and VVA. I later added the Combat Infantryman's Assn., OCS Alumni Assn., Americal Div. Vets Assn., and the Officers' Christian Fellowship to my membership list.

I know this, if you are a reservist unless you get a VA rating of 50% or more they take your VA rating out of your reserve retirement, is this the case for active duty as well??? I would like to know. Because I find this to be so wrong.

COL Randall C. - I had a congressman from my state trying to get legislation to change this but back in 2021 Pelosi would not let it come up for a vote.

SSG (Join to see) - There have been lots of attempts over the years to do away with any restriction. CRDP only got enough on-board to pass it because it was phased in over 10 years.
According to DoD's 2021 "Valuation of Military Retirement" they estimated that it would cost $55.7 billion if the offset was completely done away with.
With the Trillions the federal government throws around, surely they can find what amounts to a rounding error to treat all veterans right.

Don't know too much about the Reserve side, but part of the issue with the Guard is that the Big Army and the Guard system didn't communicate very well when I was still around. When I came out in 95 to the IRR, I found out that HRC had almost nothing of my Officer Records while I was Guard. No one told me anything about that problem. The State HQ had a section that kept your records, I was able to get everything important and mail it to HRC.
