SGT (Join to see) great news for all, I appreciate the update. I do miss Texas and the Castle Act. Virginia is nowhere near the legislation in Texas.

OMG and I didn't strap on a gun open for the public to see, nor did I see a bunch of cowboys running around openly carrying today. It's a personal choice to open carry and just because it's allowed does not mean the wild-wild west is open for business. The left-wing idiots who are afraid of guns need to sit down and shut up.

Why are you even on RP, mick. You don't even want to be buried in the US. Why bother trying to advocate your position when you don't even like this country? And how the hell cab you state IRR with an SM tag? IRR is not a regular reserve status. Do you even know what the Individual Ready Reserve is?

SGT Efaw (Mick) G. This issue with terrorism is that it is a threat that can kill hundreds and thousands in very brutal fashion in a single even. You cannot address it with criminal law, they are not the same thing. I am not a fan of giving anyone (especially the government) a single iota more authority than they need to provide protection against terrorist attacks.
This post is about my ability to carry a weapon for personal protection and the protection of others around me. The police will tell you that we (citizens) are the first line of defense. The old, "if you see something, say something" mantra. Well, that does no good if what you see is a person (criminal, terrorist, loony tune etc.) with a weapon and intent to use it.
You seem concerned about people that have gone through the legal carry process which is pretty extensive from a background check perspective. There is almost no crime committed by legal carry citizens (open or conceal) to speak of yet it appears to be a big concern of yours. I just can't seem to figure out why you are so concerned about me carrying a weapon when I have been checked out intensively, I have plenty of training, I understand deadly force and know when to use it.

SGT Efaw (Mick) G. The CDC stats for 2014 indicate that there were about 585 accidental deaths due to firearms. If you say you are concerned about 600+ accidental firearms deaths per year, I won't argue, but you supposed that there would be an uptick in accidental firearms-related deaths from the 600+ you found in 2010, and that supposition was wrong. There has been a downtick.

Back when conceal carry was passed in Florida many years ago. The left was doom saying about all of the tragedy that would befall the state, the increase in shootings, crime etc. None of it ever came to pass. Law abiding people that get permitted are not likely to turn into criminals when they carry. Open or concealed.
I think it should be up to the individual to open or conceal carry. I personally would prefer to carry in a manner that does not require me to keep the weapon 100% concealed all of the time or else. For example, under a shirt tail on a shoulder holster etc but if it shows at some point it is not a legal violation (as it is today).
