Sounds like a true hero. Thanks for posting it.

However, on another note. How did he make it past 60? I ,and everyone I know, has to retire at 60. I know there are exceptions. But I don't know how they are applied. Does anyone else know?

Haven't looked up the MILPER but I did find this. The active duty Army has changed the mandatory retirement/separation age for active duty soldiers from age 55 to age 62, according to MILPER Message 06/104.

I know people who've stayed to 62 so it's not new, just probably doesn't happen that often. I'm eligible to stay that long but it's not going to happen!!!
