I read about it in an interview article with Tom Clancy in which he said this was something he used in developing some of his stories. It is really, really down in the details - one had to use a protractor and ruler, bunch of blank paper. Tracking locations, headings, speeds of various aircraft and ships. It had rules for sonar contacts. It modeled the technical characteristics of various sensors and fire control systems (in terms of ranges, probability of detection, the arc/angle in which various weapons and sensors could "see", and so forth). Beyond requiring an extreme interest level to play, it slowed things down to an extended time scale that I don't think reflects how little decision-making time would be available to someone facing the same situation in realtime. But, for trying to get a handle on what all this stuff (ships, aircraft, missiles, torpedoes, subs) does, it was interesting.

SGT (Join to see) Interesting, I've Never Heard of this Game, I was somewhat involved in the Gamers Movement in the late 70's.

GySgt John Olson - I Remember Dungeons and Dragons, Risk, Battle for the Pacific, WWII European Theater Game We Played that I don't remember the Name of Now. But I don't remember Harpoon even though I am Familiar with the Actual Weapon System and it sounds like a Great Game.
