Hayley Young says reporting her attack was worse than the rape itself

Whaaaaat?

If I read this article correctly and fill in the blanks, Hayley Young was a New Zealand sailor posted to the UK in 2009 and allegedly raped by a colleague she "completely trusted" after an evening of drinking. It sounds from her observation that the "real problem was the culture within the NZ navy" that the alleged rapist was a New Zealander also … but I'm at a bit of a loss as to how she rationalizes suing for compensation because the "New Zealand and British defence forces failed to keep her safe." What we are getting here is her version of events … and 9 years after the fact at that. Too little information to reach a judgement IMV.
