CW5 Jack Cardwell but their advertising says it is like shooting a 9MM, they could not possibly be exaggerating could they? I totally agree with you, not just any mule, a pissed off mule.

They claim the lowering of the barrel reduces muzzle rise, and should direct the force of recoil more directly backward. That in turn should make recoil more manageable, but it's not going to disappear.
There's only one way to know for sure.

CW3 Harvey K. - PO3 Steven Sherrill It is a SHORT barrel. Minimal for the .45ACP. The fixed barrel is low enough that it might counteract the flip. Making it all work with a fixed barrel had to have driven the engineers batty. I'm not a fan but maybe shooting one would change my mind. No advantage over a Commander or Compact size 1911 in my mind.

Heizer PKO-45 weighs 25 ounces
My XDS in 45 weighs 21.5 and is manageable for what it is, a close range self defense back up weapon. I can get a second shot off in a controlled pair and hit 100% time on COM man sized target at anything under 20 feet.
My XDM compact in 45 weighs 27 oz, and same accuracy as above, same lack of issue with recoil

SGM Erik Marquez Thanks for the insight. I have never fired a compact .45 of any variety. I just sort of presumed that combining light weight with large round would add up to angry mule in the hands.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - The .45ACP is slow enough that the muzzle flip in most any package is manageable. Maybe not a 2" barrel but you don't find it in a real short barrel often. The round needs a minimum length to achieve velocity, which is the rounds only sort fall IMO.

CW3 (Join to see) I just did a trigger job on an XD Compact for a Top in our CVMA chapter. The final trigger pull was about 3.2 pounds and I fitted it so it only had enough pull to trip the sear. Really sweet.
