Sad to see the last cargo C-130 leave Alaska. I flew C-130Es there1982-1986. Best assignment of my career. 17th Tactical Airlift Squadron name was transferred to Charleston AFB for the first C-17 squadron. "Firebirds" are always on my heart.

Its a Shame the ' 130 are going away...
Personally I think they should Give them to the Army ... But the Big wigs in the nose Bleed sections would Crap Kittens ...

I flew on one from Okinawa to the Philippines , froze my tail off the whole trip.

Air conditioning system in the Herc pretty much sucked. Always too hot or too cold in cargo compartment. Cockpit was a little better. Usually kept cargo compartment cool because it cut down on passengers pukeing
