While I am assembling the cast of characters from the bible. Let me go after one of the weaker chains in the history. The lives of the Apostles. Did they really exist? It is unlikely that they wrote down their own stories. In fact they don't talk about themselves very much at all. That is sort of the point. Selfless men went forth to tell the story of Jesus, not their own story. We have their bones and places of rest, but what non biblical sources do we have to enhance their history?

Thank you for the outstanding share on the history of the Apostles. Definetly a lot of books are written on the subject.

I am sure the Apostles and Jesus Christ existed. I have reservations concerning the elevation of Paul as an Apostle, but the rest I accept as the Word of God.

I can imagine that an Apostle who followed Jesus around, and met the risen Jesus after crucifixion might have an issue with Paul holding that title, but from a standpoint of pure results, he surely qualifies as something special.

I blew through the Vatican like a tourist. In hindsight I wish I would have spent a few days there. All I did, was move through the place like a herd animal.
