Absolutely helps tremendously...Something about a relationship with horses is just amazing A movie "War Horse" which was based on a real story in WWI also adds to this if anyone is interested I would strongly suggest watching this movie with a Veteran who needs help or is having issues..

SPC Jenna Bisenius - Yes Ma'am I never knew a Horse could be such a great actor as well. He should have been given an Academy Award especially for the scene when he is hung up in barbed wire.. I think I will download this movie again. Haven't watched it in about a year.

I've known persons outside the military with some emotional issues be helped while grooming as well as riding a horse. I love being on horseback, myself.
