They, oil producers here in the U S are not gouging. They are being overburdened and over regulated. And she does this to virtual signal to you that the government is protecting you. Believe that and know you are either ignorant to how that business works or to stupid to realize that the Government does not make anything except laws and regulations and is only good at one ( 1 ) thing and “That is, for killing people and breaking things!” The only part of government that does it’s job (and is suppose to) is the Military.

We spent the entire industrial revolution not regulating industry and look where it got us
MSG Roy Cheever
Did we? SFC Thomas Foreman was Nafta regulations pertaining to trade? Is the corporate tax rate regulation? Is telling people if you are on un-imployment, welfare, or in subsidized housing and you want to do more for you and your family. If you do you most report how much you make so that amount (and sometimes more) can be taken back. Is that regulation?
I think with the exception of the time with Reagan and more recently with Trump. We keep adding regulations not reducing or getting rid of them.

MSG Roy Cheever I recognize that most of those are words in the English language but when you arrange them in that way they don’t make any sense
2 wild charts show how Big Oil profits are skyrocketing as prices at the pump rise
Oil companies are raking in the largest quarterly profits in a decade, raising concerns that the sector is using high gas prices to gouge customers.

I look at it this way. When I was young I could buy a gallon of gas for $0.25. Of course the quarter was silver. A silver quarter was 1/4 oz of silver. Today a quarter oz of silver is worth $5.25. So actually gas relative to silver is worth less. The US dollar is 20x less valuable.

When I turned 16 and got my license, I paid .30 cents a gallon. Minimum wage was $1 an hour though as a teenager I was only making .75 cents.

MSG Roy Cheever - You are correct about efficiency of production. My point s where inflation has taken us in terms of the value of the dollar.

Oh, and I do agree. To a point. I was going to relate to an example gas prices to the value of the dollar historically and show a comparison to another country I just returned from but ran of time being called to do something else.
Perhaps another time since it appears Stagnation and the price for reg ulnar gas may climb to $6.00+ by end of summer. I pray not but it seems inevitable. LTC David Brown
