I was on my 2nd year at DEVRY Institute at the time this was happening, had to drive 30 min. to North town to work. 2 technicians, I worked with, both lived on Indiana, and 31st ST., pooled with me. They lived right at ground Zero, the hot point of the unrest. Got them at Crown Drug store on Indiana AVE. but was stopped 3 times. once by the Nation Guard, and 2 times by the KCPD. reminding us that this is a crime zone, and a curfew was invoked. Time, about 0120, 2 fire trucks, and a spit load of Troops blocked the entrance of the strip mall. The fire trucks were being fired at by snipers as they approached, or attempted to get to a fire just north of 31st St. passengers got out on Indiana. This was not a crime zone, it was a fire zone. I told my 2 coworkers, they had to find another mode of transportation after work.
