We continue to see this tactic of explosive car bombs and heavy equipment by ISIS and my hats off to the Canadian special operators. But, we don't get to read what is ISIS attacking for? Why do they want that area? Why do their Generals continue to fight against superior military capabilities?

Does anyone here know? Something doesn't smell right to me. I understand ISIS needs to be destroyed. I understand they are Sunni and do not like the Shia Iraqi government. War is an extension of politics. What is the political beef for these former Saddam Generals?

Cpl Mark A. Morris - Corporal; It isn't that the former officers in the Iraqi military have any particular POLITICAL beef with the current government of Iraq (or even with the government of the United States of America). It's more the fact that the government of Iraq (and the former government of the United States of America) had them all fired and declared to be unemployable at any level much above street sweepers.

For some reason those former officers in the Iraqi military got annoyed when they were told (in almost as many words) to "Bugger off and starve - and take your whole family with you.".

Cpl Mark A. Morris - Corporal; Without stating that it's a **F*A*C*T** you can be pretty sure that the leading figures in Daesh are NOT being "underpaid"

The "political beef" of the former members of the Iraqi military under Saddam Hussein is the fact that they have been rendered ineligible for employment within Iraq, their pensions have been cut off, they stand a good chance of being murdered simply because they were in the Iraqi military when Saddam Hussein was in power, and that the current government of Iraq (which won't let them take any assets with them if they want to leave Iraq) doesn't care one little bit if they and their families starve to death.

Admittedly that isn't anywhere near as important as "The Potty Police" in the great global scheme of things but they are deluded enough to think that it is.

COL.,
Thank you for the response. It makes it more clear for me to understand why they are not trying to make a truce. As you know, terror is a political tool. They are using it big time. Perhaps, we can settle with them? Or, is that not part of the agenda?

Kind Regards,

Canadians have always contributed significantly to every conflict over the last century or so. A Canadian sniper held the record for the longest kill shot for a few years. Their pilots train with ours. A Canadian is the second-in-command of NORAD, and, iirc, Fort Hood.
