Great question MGySgt (Join to see) we have become so reliant on technology we better be planning on how we operate old-school. I was assigned to CENTCOM J33, we lost all network connectivity in the HQ. After an initial panic, we went back to telephone and message traffic to relay orders and communicate until the primary comms was restored.
My concern goes beyond communications though. I have been retired for a week or two now, but do we still teach map reading for instance or have we become completely reliant on GPS? Can we operate systems like artillery and ADA manually?

LTC (Join to see) Excellent points, sir. The Marines teach land nav still, I can't respond for other services. Things can still be done the old way, but time will come soon that those with that knowledge will soon retire. We need to ensure that information is being passed down and practiced in exercises.

There has been a lot of work on making cyber domain as normal as the Air or sea...but also as terrain dictates actions in battle....we think cyber. Lots of good teams being created by ArCyber and USCyber. I have seen a lot of dedicated people working this issue.
