IBM a great series of podcasts a few months ago about maritime security and complexity of it. Some of the highlights were the ships are built to last year's and years but the computer architecture isn't, so many ships are still running Windows XP or older, 3.5 in some cases, because they are critical parts of the ship and replacing them would cost about as much as building a new ship.

That isn't very surprising PO1 Tony Holland since the shipping industry is the critical hub of distribution of goods. If hackers can disrupt the flow of goods they would have leverage to blackmail or coerce distributors.
