People are free to say what they want. By the same token no private organization or person has the obligation to provide them a platform for that speech.

As far as the original purpose of the Internet it was to provide a distributed form of communication for government agencies and other institutions in the event of a nuclear attack. The rest of us just sort of jumped on in the mid 1990s.

Or in my case, 1983. When I started on the Internet, it was still only a collection of text-based Bulletin Boards (BBS). "Zork" (look it up) was the hottest adventure game.

SSG(P) (Join to see) - Oh, I used to play me some Zork. :) For me back then it was all BBSes and modems. I remember thinking moving from a 300 to 2400 baud modem was awesome. Lol. I was really excited a few years later when I got a 14,400 baud modem. That was the stuff.

Of course I suspect it would take a long time even to load this website on one of those..

"Even if it existed on the scale that the Times is maintaining, it was demonstrably unsuccessful. It did not determine the outcome of the election". And you know this how?

Everyone seems to forget that social media sites are PRIVATELY OWNED and when you sign up, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to their TERMS OF USAGE. Therefore, they are NOT required to provide you with a platform to say whatever you want, if they disagree with it. It's the same thing as going into a place of business and then you start droning on about your own agenda. You can be asked to leave, and barred from returning (via a restraining order, or simply giving you a verbal instruction not to return, and if you do, you can be arrested for trespassing).

Your First Amendment rights ONLY restrict the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT from restricting your free speech in PUBLIC places. The Bill of Rights do NOT apply to PRIVATE citizens and businesses.

Americans, and moreso Millennials have come to believe that they can say whatever they want to whomever they want, and those people MUST listen to them. NO. That's not how things work at all. So screaming that Facebook has violated your rights is ludicrous; your rights do not apply to Facebook or any other private place of business, and you can only do what the Terms of Usage allow you to do.

SSG Diane R. - As wrong as I think it is, private businesses can do as they please, as it is THEIR money being spent to provide the service(s). I don't think anyone has ever paid anything to Facebook just to sign up. (I know you can pay for advertising, but that's another subject) So complaining about how you are treated when you get something for free is kind of silly. There are other social media sites out there other than Facebook. There are also tons of webhosting companies as well.

SSG(P) (Join to see) - a lot of domain registrars and web hosting companies are seizing domains of Politically Incorrect websites. Google simply deep sixes the search results which is a very bad Trend in my opinion.

SSG Diane R. - It's a bad trend indeed. There is a remedy: get some start-up cash and buy some server hardware and a good connection to the Internet. No one said you or anyone has to remain restricted to the choices presented. America is about taking chances and making your own way.

SSG(P) (Join to see) - unless you are prepared to become a domain registrar and start your own hosting company it can be quite difficult.

Gab.ai was trying to do exactly that and their domain name is about to be seozed.
