The Chinese are going to build the KRA canal where the canal links China to the Indian Ocean and bypassing the Malacca Strait. This should have implications where the Chinese can expand their Naval power into the Indian Ocean quickly. This is why they're looking at this issue as well in Turkey.

I never knew about the 1936 agreement. Russia is already mad at American and Canadian warships being in the Black Sea.
