I thought this might be appreciated. Ben Bagdikian was the Washington Post point man for the Pentagon Papers and a critic of media conglomerates which he studied for the Rand Corporation. He famously stated:

“The worst thing that can happen to a journalist is to become a celebrity. The honest job of the journalist is to observe, to listen, to learn. The job of the celebrity is to be observed, to make sure others learn about him or her, to be the object of attention rather than an observer. Never forget that your obligation is to the people. It is not, at heart, to those who pay you, or to your editor, or to your sources, or to your friends, or to the advancement of your career. It is to the public.”

Excerpted from his obituary:

LTC Greg Henning It seems to be...but then PROPOGANDA has been going on forever...it's a good thing that there are a FEW news outlets that try and show the other side or the WHOLE picture and not just a tiny bit of it.
