This is crazy weird. We had a presidential candidate plagiarize a speech back in 1988, what did it get him? Everything.

This was a bit of a problem when I was teaching at the university. We had a tool that would scan a paper and show what had been written elsewhere, thus if they properly cited the material or put it in their own words with a citation, it was not plagiarized! If there was significant plagiarism I would send the paper back with all areas of plagiarism notated. Now they had to do a rewrite. After that, no more issues.
