I was a BMSN aboard the USS Francis Hammond (FF-1067) and the USS White Plains (AFS-4) both homeported out of Yokosuka, Japan between Jan. '79 - Sept. '82. Both ships have since been decommissioned. To this day I still have dreams I'm back on either of the ships and I see all my old shipmates from back then. I remember their names but once I wake up I don't. But I remember what we were doing. Most of the dreams come after seeing military movies on TV. How I wish I could go back to those days. I miss the feeling of the ship rocking from side to side during the night. Great times back then!!

CW5 Jack Cardwell Quite an Evolution. Since I was a Senior PO by the Time I reported to My First Ship, I've never been a Line Handler but as Officer of the Deck OOD In Port I've had to call away the Line Handlers to Double Up the Lines Due to Strong Winds In Port.
