Why is it always "Gun Violence" What difference does it make if you are killed with a knife, a club or a gun? Take a look at total violent crime. Things change quite a bit. London his a higher murder rate than New York City. But fewer of London's murders are committed with a gun.

Not to mention that Gun violence, and all violent crime has been dropping since it's peak in 1993. While the number of guns in circulation has sky rocketed. If guns were the problem more guns should equal more crime. But it doesn't.

And do you know where all of this gun violence takes place? Mostly in cities with restrictive gun laws, high poverty rates and overall conditions similar to third world countries. Oh.. and those areas are pretty heavily blue on an electoral map.

Let's take a look:
Highest firearm death rates:
#1. Alaska (24.5) - RED STATE
#2. Alabama (22.9) - RED STATE
#3. Montana (22.5) - RED STATE
#4. Louisiana (21.7) - RED STATE
#5. Missouri (21.5) - RED STATE
#6. Mississippi (21.5) - RED STATE
#7. Arkansas (20.3) - RED STATE
#8. Wyoming (18.8) - RED STATE
#9. West Virginia (18.6) - RED STATE
#10. New Mexico (18.5) - BLUE STATE

Literally ONE state in the top 10 for Gun Deaths in the US is a Blue state. Yeah, it's a Blue State problem.

But, hey, maybe it's a coincidence, what are the lowest states for firearm death rates?

#1. Hawaii (2.5) - BLUE STATE
#2. New York (3.7) - BLUE STATE
#3. Massachusetts (3.7) - BLUE STATE
#4. Rhode Island (3.9) - BLUE STATE
#5. Connecticut (5.1) - BLUE STATE
#6. New Jersey (5.3) - BLUE STATE
#7. California (7.9) - BLUE STATE
#8. Minnesota (8.2) - BLUE STATE
#9. Nebraska (8.3) - RED STATE
#10. Iowa (9.0) - RED STATE

It really LOOKS like RED STATES have more gun violence deaths. That's what the numbers say. And it's pretty convincing too.

RED STATES have 9 out of 10 of the highest firearm death rates in the US.
BLUE STATES have 8 out of 10 of the lowest firearm death rates in the US.

MAJ Bryan Zeski those numbers are inflated because they include suicide, self-defense, and accidents.

Here is a list of total homicides by state..

California 1,830
Texas 1,412
Florida 1,057
Illinois 997
Pennsylvania 739
Ohio 710
Georgia 703
Missouri 600
North Carolina 591
Louisiana 582
Michigan 569
New York 548
Maryland 546
Tennessee 527
Virginia 453
Arizona 416
Alabama 404
Indiana 397
South Carolina 390
New Jersey 324
Nevada 274
Kentucky 263
Arkansas 258
Mississippi 245
Oklahoma 242
Washington 230
Colorado 221
Wisconsin 186
Massachusetts 173
Kansas 160
New Mexico 148
District of Columbia 116
Minnesota 113
Oregon 104
Iowa 104
Connecticut 102
West Virginia 85
Utah 73
Alaska 62
Delaware 54
Nebraska 43
Montana 41
Hawaii 39
Idaho 32
South Dakota 25
Maine 23
Rhode Island 20
Wyoming 15
New Hampshire 14
Vermont 14

And here’s a nice graphic showing gun homicides in the US. Do you see what all of the darker colored states have in common? Large metropolitan areas with high poverty rates, high gang activity, and high minority populations. Large metropolitan areas are almost exclusively blue.
