Makes sense to me. One of the most important lessons I learned in a leadership book written by a general officer was "...a good leader is a good teacher and a good teacher is a good leader..." I have discovered this to be true. Sadly, although I enjoyed great success as a teacher, I could never have taught in a school system. And I wonder how many veterans could. We were indoctrinated to accomplish the mission. School administrators, especially the US Dept of Education have other goals and objectives, the foremost being indoctrination. Sorry, I'm not about to indoctrinate students in anyone's ideology. I would only go there to be someone for students to lean on while they learn.

CPT Jack Durish- I agree that there are most certainly problems with our public schools and that most of it stems from the DOE, administrators, publishing companies, lobbyists...etc. I also couldn't do it, which is why I applaud those that do. Regardless of the problems though we still need teachers and doing nothing isn't a very good option. Change has to start somewhere and with any bureaucracy change is never a quick endeavor. Who is better suited to lead the charge then our fellow veterans?!

I was going to be a teacher but then the certifying officer at Texas A&M would not recognize all my Physic credits from ODU. Collages are such a scam they wanted to make me take a bunch of Chemistry classes and certify me to team Chemistry (merely an application of Physics) But I wanted to teach Physics. Of note less that 1% of Texas HS Physics teacher are qualified to teach Physics.

LCDR (Join to see)- The article mentioned that too. It seems that because there is such a big need for teachers and not enough qualified folks to do the jobs that there are more than a few unqualified teachers out there.

I salute every veteran who has chosen to teach America's youth. Thank you, again.
