I saw the reporting on this SSG Robert Mark Odom and fundamentally it was beyond repair having suffered greatly from several hurricanes over the last few years... It is a loss, for sure, but with all the new Space Telescopes, it is not such a big loss... Perhaps there will be a replacement of sorts in the coming years...

Are native icon Puerto Rico telescope collapsed by lack of proper maintenance. I am not a telescope engineer but common sense take me to conclude; that the Arecibo telescope personnel didn't have the proper budget to keep are Puerto Rico space telescope actualize to the century where leaving. The status as a territory of the United States didn't help us to pursue more funds to keep live the space mission in Puerto Rico. I hope in the future we become state 51 and we could resume are roll as part of the space program of are nation. So God help us.
