It's fascinating that this person who has such passion to put into a letter could want to end their life. While I see that he was in constant pain from a haunted past, it's so sad to hear that someone like him couldn't get the necessary relief from anything while he was alive. He had to end his suffering somehow and did in what was "in the best way."
I've had friends and loved ones commit suicide. It hurts for those who wanted to help or never knew that someone was being hurt so much. Sometimes it's noticed yet no one does anything or it's sudden and blows everyone sideways.
He was right, when are we going to see that we need to help those in need that are shadowed by other, yet sometimes unimportant, issues? We need to be there for our shipmates, our battle buddies. I try my best, as a person, to keep in contact with those I hold close and make sure they are OK and if they need anything.
Hopefully he's at peace. Thoughts for the family and friends.
