This is dedicated to my Mother who passed away on May 4th of 2018. A great woman and a light in my life that can never be replaced. She always supported me whether it was pursuing music or serving my country. She stood strong and tall through it all. While I was away training at Lackland, all I could think was I am truly lucky to have had the love and support I had. To come home to find my mother had passed was a great blow. To know I will never hear her voice again or have her sit smiling at me while I played piano is a pain I would not wish upon others.
I know my mother's wishes were for me to continue onward, become an officer, and serve this great country of ours through whatever hardships life will throw my way.
My last conversation with her was of our space program and how important it was to me and also of my music. She knew her son well and gave me the encouragement I needed to surmount the challenges set to me by the rigours of military life. I will always cherish the memories I have of the smartest, bravest woman that was my mother. I know somehow she is at peace and knows her children will continue her legacy of strength of character and dedication to integrity.

Ian be comforted by the fact your great Mother is now keeping up with your daily activities from Heaven. I am sure she proudly tells Saint Michael and Jesus how proud she is of her son.

Thank you, sir LTC Jeff Shearer There are times where the character of a man is tested and his faith in himself, his country and fellow man is shaken to the core. Thanks to the great role models I have had and continue to have through Rally Point, I am humble to say I have more to learn and grow as an individual. I am sure that I am on the right path and by touching each other's lives as we have we will only grow stronger. There are men and women of honour who walk amongst us now and a legacy of valour left behind by those who are no longer with us.
