If she was my Soldier, I'd tell her she's making one HELL of a mistake. 8.5 months into a pregnancy and NOW you want out? You could at least see the childbirth through, ensure there are no mitigating issues with the child, and once stabilized, get out if that is your choice. I'd 4856 her ass quick, and send her behind to see what actual care vs. perceived care she'd get, and report to me what she found out. (I'd have to do the same thing, but I wouldn't tell her I didn't know). Folks make these rash judgements thinking this is IT, come to find out it isn't IT and will never be IT. So now you're fighting to get back in and the services get to choose who they want, and your excuse for ETS'ing might not sound so good to those recruiters. This Sailor needs some counseling ASAP

SSG Warren Swan thanks for your honorable response. I am in agreement 100%. That (pregnancy) is one huge responsibility and getting out without a solid plan in my opinion could make it more confusing.

My thoughts...do NOT get out at this point. She'll have a steady paycheck and have the free medical for the birth, all the initial "well baby" checks and the inevitable ear infection(s) among other things. All newborns do is eat, sleep and soil their diapers. The diaper cost alone adds up quick. There is no mention of the father, so i'm assuming the Sailor is a single mom-to-be. If that's the case then suck it up and STAY IN, for the baby's sake if nothing else.

A. Don't be dumb and get out when you know your baby is going to be medicine, treatments, emergencies, unforseens.

B. See A

The only reason I stayed 20 is my 4 children......don't be selfish
