MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. Fantastic story! One thing is for sure that was stated, "you never forget your Drill Instructors!" That's a fact Jack! I still remember mine to this day.

Yup! Started with Senior DI SSG Pierce, SSG Fuller & Sgt Frost. Fuller left us to become Senior DI of a sister platoon and we picked up SGT Rhonda. Semper Fi!

I mildly resented the friends I had who were "draft dodgers", the ones who got married early, or got deferments for education and then got married "to beat the draft". In later years, I realized Parris Island, and all the training I got from the Corps was an experience that they deprived themselves of.
Before I shipped out to boot camp, a sergeant in my reserve unit commented that being a boot on P.I. is an experience you would not pay a dime to go through. Once through it, you wouldn't sell that experience for a million dollars.

CW3 Harvey K. That is correct! Going through boot camp was hell but once you walked that parade ground on graduation day you were a proud Marine and made it all worthwhile.
