I remember when this story broke a month or so back, I had a fit of laughter at the audacity of these kids. That's what they are kids with zero work history and a 100% entitlement philosophy.
This is like the Deck seaman with zero sea time trying to tell me how to run my shop, and then getting all the other deck seaman to sign a petition to the CO saying what their demands are.
The fact they don't even see what's wrong with this shows you how self-absorbed and narcissistically entitled they are. I would lay a months pay down that the one kid that didn't sign had real world experience and parents that didn't hand him everything.
What's worse is we are seeing this kind out in the fleet, the question everything, attempts at collective demands, entitled people. ohhh how I cant stand them...
SN: Why should I take out the trash, PO1 doesn't take out the trash... I will take it out tomorrow if PO1 takes it out today..
LPO: You will be taking it out everyday from now on!
SN: I want to talk to Chief / Divo /DEPT Head / ect ect.
Sure everyone put them in their place but you still end up looking like you cant run your shop because SN Timmy wants to be a problem child. Paper work just feeds the "their against me" attitudes.
I remember sitting and talking with people from the greatest generation, now I understand why back then they said kids these days are worthless. Now im saying it Kids these days are worthless and I'm big enough to admit I'm half the man my Grandfathers generation was.

CPO (Join to see) I am laughing at the image of a bunch of newbies petitioning the commander or the chief for much of anything. That's great.

An intern isn't brought in to develop corporate policy. You accept an internship to LEARN. You aren't learning if you are trying to re-write company guidelines/policy. I'd have put them in the streets too.

SPC Burt Epps - you wrote "An intern isn't brought in to develop corporate policy." I am agreeing, they are there to learn to get along not buck or challenge the system. Does that make sense?

A business is not a democracy, but it should encourage well-considered "free speech". Although if I was presented with the proposal and the petition at the same time, the interns would be at least knee deep in a hole they dug for themselves. I do not like the timing, it seems to try to force a "fait accompli".
I think my receptiveness to the proposal and petition would depend on may factors that we are not made aware of in this article or any of the related articles on this case.
