Reading about the witch trials throughout Medieval Europe . . . into the 17th century, extending into the Salem, it seems they are primarily directed at women who did not measure up to the blueprint religion created for women. Its no wonder so many folks took to the frontiers early in the nation, and moved west away from "civilization" - to places where both men and women worked to "tame the wilderness".
